SHL Medical, the global market leader for autoinjectors headquartered in Zug, Switzerland, celebrated the grand opening of its fully automized and digitalized plant in Charleston, South Carolina, USA, at the end of March 2025.
The plant was built on a greenfield site with an investment of around USD 220 million, creating over 300 jobs. In the future, several hundred million devices per year will be produced primarily by approximately 110 injection molding machines in an area of around 330,000 ft², including devices for weight loss medication.
The plant represents a milestone in the global expansion and implementation of SHL Medical's successful growth strategy. Another project for establishing a European production facility and the new headquarters is already underway at the Zug site, which will create an additional 350 jobs.
